In light of the current discussion of "foreign" photographers documenting
places that are foreign to them, I've noted the few related titles that
immediately come to my mind. I've tried to avoid books of travel
photography, as that seems to be another type of work entirely. The books
below were generally intended to be studies or explorations of one kind or
another of the places/people in question via photography.

If you feel like it, add to the list. I'm not sure what conclusions - if
any - could be drawn from it, or the flames it might generate, but at the
very least we might end up with an interesting bibliography.
