Yet another suggestion  , on leaving leader out , count how
many times you need to  turn the rewind crank leaving the
film leader out .

I  use this technic with my M2 in loud clubs when shooting
bands , never could quite hear or feel change in tension
when roll was rewind  in the M2 or M3 (42 half turns for me
).
