From a technical point of view, twice as fast shouldn't be a problem since the Leicaflex of 1965 has a horizontal cloth shutter with 1/100 sec sync speed.  Whether Leica or anyone else in 2001 can produce such a shutter at a cost we're willing to pay for is another question.
