I've relined lens caps with sheet felt, available at most hardware stores 
here in the US.  It comes in 4" x 6" sheets, about 1/16 thick, with an 
adhesive back: brown or green.  Works like a charm.

I can't imagine that you won't find its equivalent in the UK.
