Subject: [Leica] In praise of the 90 Summicron R

Dear Folks,

My brother came by to visit yesterday on his way from England to Rutgers
University to give a paper. I haven't seen him for several years and so I
decided to take a few photos of him and some of my family memebers during the
short time he was here.

I used my "classic" R lenses for these photos: the 35,50 and 90 Summicrons.
Lately I have been "hung up" on the 100 APO, latest 28, and the old 180 APO.
I had forgotten the look of the older Summicrons, especially the 90 for
portraits.

My God! Such a beautiful glow particularly with back lighting - no flare,
nothing washed out, just a wonderful dimensional image filled with subtlety
and pastel shadings - all at F2.0! This is why I got into Leica gear over
thirty years ago. It is simply amazing how much detail that lens produces
while avoiding the brittle look.
The image just lights up.

Forgive for this rant, but I had to tell someone.
