I think one of the best solutions to this problem is to find some 
nice beer that you like that comes in brown 500ml European style flip 
top bottles, buy a dozen (so that you have a couple of spares - maybe 
you'll want more spares than that:-) ), and after dealing with the 
original contents use the bottles for storing the stock solution. 
Half a year is no problem for a completely full bottle!
