which has absolutely nothing to do with how good a camera either of them
are or what kind of photos they take. i'm continually puzzled by the saying
"well, this camera will still be around taking pictures in 50 years while
that
wizband will be in the garbage heap" -- neither does multi decade longevity
have anything to do with what kind of photos you're taking or how good the
camera is at taking them. i don't think any working pro would mind terribly
if his/her camera obsoleted itself every 24 months as long as it took
superior
photos and made it easy to do his/her job.

mike johnson posted an essay here about 2 years ago about dropping a
pentax k-1000 lens out of a multi story window to see if it would break. it
took several drops before it would no longer function on the camera. though
the glass remained intact...

i have a great idea -- lets do the same test with an m6 and a Brinks Nutron
Star cabinet safe. if the safe turns out to be sturdier than the m6 we can
all
buy them, make pinhole cameras out of them and then run around saying
how tough they are and how long they'll last.

i'll wager too you're probably underestimating the EOS, i don't own one, but
i'd guess they're sturdily constructed. (i'd also guess that even a small
drop would
damage the innards of both an EOS and a Leica. while the outsides may be
made of metal, a lot of the guts are very fragile.)

i did have a nikon 2020 that i broke open with a hammer to get the prism
out.
that one did not resist disassembly for very long....
