The Hakuba carbon fibre tripods are basically slightly cheapened versions of the
somewhat sturdier Velbon Carmagne line, which I wholly recommend - in some ways they
are superior to the Gitzo 1227 & 1228. The Hakuba and the Velbon appear  to be made
in the same Chinese factory.

Spend the extra $50-75 and get the Velbons.
