Over the years many folks complained that the battery cover would just 
unscrew itself, fall off, and be lost. Consider yourself lucky.

Leica makes battery covers with a coin slot for easy removal and 
application. If you want one (or more) call Leica parts in NJ and order 
it/them. It can take awhile to receive as they are made in small batches. I 
have one for each of my M6's.
