Of course it's "up to Leica's standards. It's the lens Leica released with
the Leica name on it. That means that it sets the standards for Leica as a
28-70 zoom.;-)

28-70 Vario-Elmar is made in Japan (designed by Sigma) and it is not up to
Leica's standard. Try the Elmarit-R 28mm to see the different.
