True - But the "average Joe" sure as hell isn't buying Leica Ms or Rs. Let's
talk apples and oranges. And in this case the apples and oranges are, when
it comes to buying new equipment - and I know there are exceptions - pros,
or very well heeled non-pros. And while there are certainly "middle
class"-healed non-pros who decide to buy a Leica M or R because, by God,
they want to, there are also "middle class"-healed non-pros who acquire
Nikon or Canon "pro" digital cameras, or top-of-the-line SLR equipment.

The point is that while I certainly don't see the $400-500 bump from an M6
to an M7 as making either economic or photographic sense for me - based ONLY
on what I've heard on this list - it is hardly surprising that Leica would
price it that way when introducing it.

BTW - Rob Schneider = sometimes of this list - tells me that he was perusing
an Adorama catalogue from about 1994 and, lo and behold!, the M6 listed for
$2400! So that means that in today's dollars it was over $2500 - and it's
then hardly a surprise that the M7 would come in in that neigbhorhood - or
higher.

Sure, but I think we were talking about the average joe who doesn't
do this for a living and they are buying digital cameras from $200-1100.
