There were special versions (Luxus) of the original Leica in gold with
various exotic skins. There was also a leather option for the normal camera
which was problematic as the lens mount loosened as the leather dried out
and compressed. If you just tightened  the loose mount then the register was
off. It had to be shimmed back into spec.
