Is the converse true? If I buy a gray market camera in the US, will the
International Warranty be honored if I send the camera to Germany, or some
other repair faciality out of the US? My R8 was bought from a small
dealer in California, NOT listed as authorized. New, in a shrink wrapped
box. The warranty card states "For this camera the Leica Camera AG provides
an extended warranty of 5 years." It does have the exclusion as stated by
others of commensing on the date of purchase from an an authorized photo
dealer. I don't know who that dealer might be, but I am sure Leica knows.
At some point it time it was in the hands of an authorized dealer not in the
US. It doesn't say anything about the warranty not being transferrable, so
if this camera is less than 5 years old, I would think the warranty is still
valid if I choose to send it to Germany.
