The 400/6.8 can be had quite inexpensively (especially considering 
the rest of the Leica R range), and is a wonderfully handling lens 
for fast moving subjects. I've shot birds in flight at close to 
minimum focus distance with the one I used to have, and even the 
latest AF isn't good for that. If you've got the money for a Leica 
tele zoom, you've got the money for a 400/6.8.
