I don't believe those of us who were not directly harmed by the Nazi horror
really have the right to *forgive* them.  Forgiveness coming from us is
meaningless, without  substance.  If the forgiveness is to have meaning, it
would have to come from those whom they persecuted.  And, unfortunately,
most of those are a mixture of ash and bone or lie in unidentified burial
sites.

It seems very presumptuous for any of us to think we have any right to
forgive them for harm done to someone else.  Makes no sense.

With no intention to trivialize the issue, if one LUG member insults
another, can a third forgive him for it?

I don't know what the word "hate" means in this context.  But if come
across an old Nazi 60 years after the war, should I tell him, "it's OK what
you did because it happened 60 years ago.   The Statute of Limitations
hasn't run out, but since you are old, I will let you go" ?

I don't think so.  Certain things simply shouldn't be forgotten, nor
forgiven, nor gone unpunished.
