Mikey,

In addition to the Empire State Building as a vantage point to photograph the Towers of Light, you should also consider the observation deck of the RCA Building in Rockefeller Center. I don't know how late it is open, but you would have a great view of the Empire State Building in the foreground and the Towers of Light in the background.
