The key to success when you look through the viewfinder and see something
that "has been done before" or is a "cliché", is to figure out how to do it
better than the last photographer.
Either through composition, exposure, or decisive moment, or all of the
above.

If you are successful, the next guy has to do better than YOU.

Steve, IMO, I'd say you were successful.
