As to Starbucks not being any more interesting than any one of a million other places - you're right; it's not. It's simply a commercial entity that serves as a social gathering place. And, as such, I believe is worth trying to document. My student has gotten some nice shots, so I'll be interested to see what comes out of the project - btw, the students also have to write a 1,500 to 2,000 word essay. The essays and photos can enhance each other, but the requirement is that the written work and the photography be able to stand alone. B.
