Subject: [Leica] the fling is over/my search has ended

This is really two messages in one. I recieved a box of processed K64 today
and I remembered why I fell in love with the film in the first place. Sorry
Provia, the fling is over. You were fun and you gave me quickie processing
but K64's depth of color and attention to detail rendition has won my heart
over again.

This roll of K64 coincided with my tests of a "new" lens, the 280mm f/4.8
Telyt-V (last version) on the Televit rapid-focus grip. I've been looking
for my ideal 280-ish lens for 30 years and now I may have found it. My
ideal lens in this focal length should complement the 400mm f/6.8 Telyt:

) hand-holdable
) amazing detail rendition and color saturaton
) fast and precise MANUAL focus
) great flare control
) good bokeh
) close minimum focus distance
) affordable - for a Leica lens, anyway.

This lens showed me its stuff on this roll of K64:

The Photosmart's scan obviously doesn't do justice to the slide: the
incredible saturated colors, microscopic detail into the darkest feathers,
reddest reds and brightest highlights have to be seen to be believed. This
lens is a "keeper".
