not true at all -- i, for one, went to college for free (on tag and pell
grants) and lived on less than $5,000 a year my entire college life. for one
auspicious year i was living in a large walk-in closet (it was one of the
coolest rooms i ever had actually and the rent was a lovely $90 a month). i
took my first college photo classes using a petri 7s rangefinder my dad
bought in vietnam. obviously, ANY spare cash had to go for beer and film
rather than on 50mm leica finders.
