I may be wrong, but that explanation and "adjustment" doesn't sound Kosher to 
me...

I have another story about Bergen County Camera and the "hand smack fix" on 
another Leica model, where they were dead wrong, the guy didn't know what he 
was talking about. (About 5 to 7 years ago) but I don't want to put it out in 
a public forum.

something" and smacks the baseplate  smartly against the palm of the hand.
the shutter snaps shut, and now works fine at all speeds.  rob said that
they taught one that technique at leica school.    he said to try it out
with film and maybe it was just a fluke without ill after effects
