I used to work in a one hour photo lab. We would routinely break apart the
"throw-away" cameras to save the batteries. (We were poor art school
kids :)) Occasionally we would get one with a full charge and open to the
circut board... wham! you get a pretty hefty shock..

You only do that once before you learn to discharge the flash. :)
