Mark, Thanks for your critique. You are right. The colored arrows were
taking away from the main subject. So I fixed it up a bit to see how it
looks. I think it looks a lot better.

I think the green and Oregon arrows at the top completely dominate at
shot below.

I'd say make them smaller and black and white.  ... make the shot
bigger. Put the arrows below not above the shot.


The shot looks pretty good but we can say we ignore the other elements
on the page; but the fact is this is always impossible.

My Bauhaus teachers from school would have said that the other elements
on the page ARE the shot. They can not be separated.
