Kyle's talk alone was worth the cross-country airplane trip. He actually talked about photography. Imagine that.

I enjoyed it immensely, but I had a serious issue with my digestive tract after eating some potato salad that I thought was vegetarian but wasn't, and I had to stumble out in the dark during the part of the meeting where some expert talked about actual Leicas. In the dark I couldn't find anybody to tell I was leaving, and I spent the rest of the afternoon in my hotel bed in close proximity to a supply of "liquid cork". I'm fine now, but it was an odd afternoon. You should have seen the look on the taxi driver's face when I asked him to drive me from 43rd at 6th to the Algonquin.

There aren't 20 people alive who can follow me on a speaking bill and have anyone pay attention to them, but as soon as I met Kyle I knew that not only could he follow me, he'd steal the show if I let him go first.

I did announce my new job at the NYLUG meeting. I can't put it in writing until my new employer announces it, but I'll let you know as soon as I can.
