I have used stainless for the last thirty years and have never had a lid come
off yet. I bought two Brooks tanks in about 1968 as a young fella and have
never regretted it. The lids fit perfectly with no leaks to speak of. However,
I have a friend who still does not trust the lid to remain in place and has a
wide rubber band that fits around the tank at the join between the lid and the
tank. This serves the dual purpose of holding the lid on and stopping any
possible leaks. He claims it also quietens the operation when rolling the tank
during agitation. (?)
