    About a year or so ago, well before 9/11. I did an assignment for the
WSJ. Originally they wanted transparency material, but when I told them of
the problems it would cause for this partifcular job, they took color
negative material.
    Today, I guess they get the "engraved" look by washing the picture
through a computer program designed for them.

    Mike Durling commented, "I have heard that the reason that the WSJ
doesn't use photos is so they don't have to deal with photographers!"

    Well, Mike, the new management of the WSJ does like and use pictures
INSIDE. The quote originally was an off hand remark from Norman Pearlstine,
when he was at the WSJ. Today Pearlstine is currently Editor-in-Chief at
AOL-Time Warner.
