As much as I like the SL, it's an old camera and if the meter goes then
I'd probably use it with a hand held meter. I went back to the dealer
today (Double Expo) and he said that it was sold without guarantee so
basically it's tough luck. As the meter seems to under read by 2 stops I
can use the film speed dial to compensate.

Quite strange this afternoon using the SL and a 250mm f4 lens together
with the M6. Let's just say that an SL with that lens is just a bit
heavier than an M6 with a Summicron :-)

I would be concerned that the meter cell is going bad also.

Steve, I know you are in France but it might be worth a call to Sherry.
She often has SL's for sale and, naturally, guaranteed up to snuff.
