Subject: [Leica] FS: Kodak RFS 3570 scanner

As some have requested, here's some additional information on the
scanner.

The Kodak RFS 3570 scans film formats from 37mm to 70mm

The scanner works by flashing a filtered (red, green, blue) strobe
through the image against a Charge Coupled Device.. The scanner
provides 6 million pixels per scan, crisp images of 3072 pixels wide by
2048 pixels high in 24 bit color or 8 bit grayscale.

In practice this means 2150 dpi for 35mm, 1291 dpi for 4.5x6cm and 910
dpi for 6x6 through 6x7cm.

Unlike with my Nikon Coolscan II, the resulting scans show no
grain-aliasing. Very smooth skies and other non textured areas and
great color.

Inkjet prints of 11x14 from 35mm and 10x10 from 6x6 are every bit as
good as chemical prints.

Weighs 16 pounds

The software includes a Kodak driver plug-in for Adobe Photoshop for
Macintosh and a Kodak TWAIN driver for PCs..

I was wrong in my earlier message in that I do not have the film carrier
for 6x9 although the scanner supports this size.

Anyone looking for a nice scanner for their Rollei slides and negatives?

I was finally able to buy a Leafscan at a price that I could afford, so
now this Kodak RFS3570 is not needed any longer.

It will scan 35mm to 6x9cm and has holders for 35mm slides and negative
strips, and the holders for 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7 and 6x9.

Also included is the manual and both PC and Mac software.

I paid $800 for it about 6 months ago and would like to get at least
$600 for it now plus shipping.

These units were sold new for $5,000 + up to a couple of years ago. The
new RFS3570 Plus costs $7500.

Some pictures that I scanned with it when I first got it:
