[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Part of it lies beyond the Green Line (i.e. in Israel), and the larger part of the remaining land is either controlled by settlers, used as firing ranges or lies within the West Bank but in an area marked by the Hebron Civil Administration as "Nature Reserve" and (here's the logic of it!) sprayed with herbicides if the farmers plant it. Some of the latter area lies very close to the villages themselves, but as far as I know the villages have not been sprayed with any chemicals (hard to ascertain). Settlers and firing ranges account for the majorioty of the expropriation. Add to this the fact that the people have to hide whenever an IDF patrol comes by, and the denial of land use is very comprehensive. I can't remember off-hand, but I think a dunum is either 1/3 or 1/4 of an acre.
