Ah, the R9 is really the R8-1.8!:-)

Leave it to Leica to think that the way to save the R line is to come out
with a camera that abandons what those who like the R8 have called fabulous
ergonomics and balance, and move it in the direction of a camera they
already killed off.

Prediction - There will not be a Leica reflex line within 30 months of this
unveiling at Photokina - unless the R9 turns out to either incorporate
autofocus, using present lenses, or is a digital - using present lenses.

The Leica rep for the Kansas/Missouri region was telling dealers that the R9
as going to be much smaller and lighter than the R8.  Photokina is about a
month away so all will be revealed soon.
