I can't imaging whom you have heard this from, but it is not logical, and IS
outside the realm of "practical" modern technology to simply "add a digital
back" to an M camera and expect it to somehow magically work.  It's much
more involved that that.  Whomever said otherwise isn't adept at the
practical application of said technology.  It's been discussed many times on
this list...and every now and then, someone has the idea to bring it up
again.  It's a romantic idea, but highly unlikely and highly impractical.
It would not be simply an M film body, but a new body, designed for digital
sensor and electronics, that happened to use M lenses.

How many do you think would sell, and for what price?

You already can.  Buy a good scanner.
