I have never had battery drain with my M6 TTL and I always switch it to

off when I have finished using it and it goes back in the bag.

Simon, the OFF position of the M6TTL (if that's what you're referring
to) is intended to disconnect the battery but it does not prevent the
shutter from opening if cocked - mechanically, it behaves the same as
B. B could not be used as an OFF position in the M6TTL, because the
flash curcuit requires battery current and needs to be operational in B
mode. 

I think there may have been battery drain problems with early M6TTL
cameras but mot any more. The battery seems to last a long time: I have
one (lithium) that's still going strong after 12 months.
