I guess that proves the greed of Carrol Shelby who
was never known for his charity. (He also bumped
me from driving  Temp Buell's 4.5 Ferrari at the
Dodge City Races in 1956).  I carry a grudge for
a while. :-)

I remember many years ago being offered the last
GT-40 at Shelby's showroom on Aviation Blvd. in
LA.  At 22 kilobucks, brand new, I had to pass on
it as I had just picked up my specially built Porsche
from Vasek Polak Porsche, which was (almost) just
down the street at 356 S Sepulveda in Manhattan
Beach.

Besides, the GT-40 was only right hand drive.
