......and Nathan,  are you sure you put the lens on properly? 
Perhaps, like on the M's, is it possible to __almost_  mount the 
lens, but not quite,  to stop just before clicking in. The coupled 
rangefinder will seem to work, but focusing will of course be off, at 
least on the negative.
