Good question, the Nikon lens to Canon EOS adapter does allow metering in "A" mode with the lens stopping down as the aperture ring is turned just as the Leica lens does. Again, the screen is bright enough to focus down to F8.0 or so without having to do the open up, focus, stop down dance.
