Kit,
I think you should look for a clean 97 instead.  The early ones used the two
stroke if that is your inclination.  I preferred the V4 although it went
through exhaust pipes pretty quickly in salty weather.  The good thing about
the 97 is that if the car couldn't go over the snow you probably shouldn't
be out driving just yet.

Just imagine passing a Semi in a hard rain barely able to see the axle
centerline above your head.  What fun when I was younger.
