Rolfe, I have not found this to be the case with NPC, but I understand that
some scanners will not work as well with grain of a particular size. It is akin
to a moire pattern. For instance Fuji Reala on my scanner is atrocious, with
(apparent) grain larger than 800iso film.

If you do a scan on the archive you will find a number of references to this
problem. Or are you saying that the actual size of the grain on the film is
larger than NPH?
