Subject: RE: [Leica] Thoughts on Leica Remaking The Classic IIIf or IIIg WithModern Lenses?

Consider this:
There's currently an auction AT THAT PLACE for a Leica iiig, Leicavit,
and collapsible Summicron, all apparently in great shape, for an opening
offer of $2200. No bidders, and it's been there since April 12th.

Could you imagine Leica offering just a iiig body for less than two
grand? Just think of the cost of reassembling one with fresh materials,
even if the major parts could be pulled from old stock!

Which is why, as Greg implies, a IIIG just might sell.
Whether it would actually make a profit or not, dunno (how
did Nikon do with the S3?).
