I've been in any number of food processing plants, and there can be
huge differences in the practices between them. I went in one snack
food (tortilla chip) plant where they were utterly fastidious about
hygiene - plant atmosphere was pressuried to prevent contamination,
visitors rolled their clothes with sticky tape then went thru an air
closet to blast off any lint or dirt, shoe covers, hair nets,
overclothes, the works. Impressive. On the other hand, I went in a
potato chip plant that so repulsed me that I have not eaten their
products since...and it's the only case I have like that.

Most interesting place: Just Born Candies in Bethlehem, PA, where
they make the Marshmallow Peeps. Very interesting to see the peeps
made, and watching the conveyor belt moving hundreds of the things to
the packaging side. An army of Peeps...btw a very modern clean
facility...

Obligatory camera bit: No photos allowed in any of these places...
