You did not get a virus over the LUG. You did not get a virus from Phong.

If you got a virus, you got it as individual email, bypassing the LUG, from the person whose computer is infected.

If the message said that it came from Phong, the one thing of which you can be certain is that it did not. All modern viruses forge the identity of the sender, and send the message in the name of someone whose email address they find in the victim's mailbox.
