I remember reading about a guy in Shutterbug a couple of years ago, who 
shot NYC bridges with a Hassy.  He used an external gyro to stabilize 
the camera: vibrations from cars would have rendered a tripod useless.

If I recall correctly, these were the Kenyon gyro stabilisers.  See
