It's easy to put a numeric code into your computer that will generate a character on your screen. But if the character that you see on your screen is not on your keyboard, the chances are very high that a recipient will see something else. The protocols to make characters beyond those on your keyboard work properly are *very* complex; most software does not follow them properly.
