Great, there are daily flights to Melbourne out of LA, you can hire a SUV at 
the airport, and come up to Ballarat to stay a night or two (to recover from 
jet lag and taste some of the wines you will be tempted with on the journey: 
Then we will head off to SA via the vineyards, pick up a reasonable supply 
to "taste" and head into Wilpena pound: daily hiking and photography, 4wd 
tracks and nightly wine tastings for a week, before heading back. 

Hmm sounds do good, and its so long since I did it, If only I had a week off 
;-) 

Ps the weather would be perfect at the moment !!!! and great images of 
drought for FOM2 as well !!!!!
