Such a great movie...particularly in the new, expanded, recut
version...although I could certainly have done without the bizarre 'sex
with the Playboy bunnies in the chopper scene.."

The flag waiving did make me think of Col.  "I love the 
smell of napalm in the morning" Kilgore.  

Col. Kurtz gave me more of a sense of someone who has 
became lost and turned bad (in an amoral, primitive, 
primal sense).  You had to kill him but you still 
respect him, and you recognize that in the circumstances 
you would not fare any better, morally speaking.
