Subject: Re: [Leica] FS: All of My Leica M Equipment
From: David Freedman <pupnik@yahoo.com>

If I had a therapist (which I don't!), he'd probably
ask me the same thing. It's not that I don't like
RFs,it's just that I didn't take to the M system the
way I thought I would. I've had two Mamiya 7s
(RFs)for years and absolutely *love* that system. I
also have (and use) a very extensive Leica R system.
Jumping into the M system with both feet seemed like a
natural: The distinctive "look" of Leica glass
combined with Mamiya-like quick RF focusing and quiet
handling. Alas, it turned out that I liked fondling
the M hardware more than I liked using it. I found
the equipment to be spectacularly well-built but also
much heavier than I expected; almost as heavy as the
Mamiya 7. As an eyeglass wearer, I also have had
difficulty dealing with the Leica viewfinder. All in
all, if I want the Leica "look", I'm much happier (and
more successful) behind my R7 or R8. Yes, I should
have worked with the Ms for a while before buying all
of the lenses and body variants but that's the way I
am. I'm also starting to drift more and more toward
digital so the Ms and Rs are getting used less, and
less frequently. No sense having $12K worth of unused
photo equipment sitting in the closet.

Best,

Dave F.
