Sonny-
Just wondering then - just shy of the way our Declaration of
Independence is preserved - what would be 1- the best way for regular
folk to preserve their original slides, negatives and prints (color and b+
w) and 2 - if you were asked to (well, I guess you ARE asked to at your
workplace :-) ) what would be the ultimate method of storage? I would
guess that an alternate atmosphere (such as pure, dry nitrogen, or
argon ) would be in order..... No need to write a thesis for "1", any good
websites or book titles you can mail me off list would be great!

I assure you, as one who handles old photos every day that the survival
rate
of silver prints can be very poor indeed.

A better way to preserve an image might be to print it on high quality
paper
with stable inks. Lithography from the 20's is holding together better
than
silver in our collection.

Let's see, ink on high quality paper? Could that be Inkjet's future?
