I believe that case was not lasik but radial keratotomy (done by
radial cuts on the cornea surface using microtomes - the 1st
generation of correction developed by the Russians).

I've had Lasik about 5 years ago. So far so good and it beats glasses
or contacts particularly if one like to travel off the beaten path.

PS. Make REALLY REALLY sure your surgeon has a lot of
experience. 10,000 pair of eyes is a good starting point and don't go
for the cheapest price. The cheap ones have to skimp
somewhere. Maintenance cost for the lasers is about $150K per year so
there is a lot of overhead.
