Actually, one of my favorite whites is made in the Russian River valley. I forgot the name, but I used to buy it from one of my local wine pushers when I lived in Brussels; he got an allocation of 2-3 cases a year and reserved 4-6 bottles for me. But at around $20 a bottle, it was definitely not a good value. Otherwise, I have found most California wines to be overpriced relative to what you get from Chile or Australia.
