Dear Luggers,

I have sent a similar message two days ago, but have not found it yet in the
Digests.
So here it is again!

After a two weeks trekking and sightseeing vacation in Argentina, I have put
a couple of pictures from that
trip on the web at: http://home.wxs.nl/~sanderva/salta/default.htm

We were in the Salta and Jujuy provinces in the North, and those are
fascinating places.

Red Rock Valleys, just like you would find in Utah and Colorado abound.
Perhaps a geologist
could here explain if indeed there are similarities between the genesis of
the badlands east of
the Andes and east of the Rockies!

In the mountains in Argentina not many people live. The climate is harsh:
very hot, very cold, very dry, very high.
Arable land is sparse. They were friendly but very shy, despite my adequate
Spanish.
Close up photography was not appreciated.

The cities are pure Spanish, and there are many "First Nation South
Americans", if that is the pc terminology.

This is, round Cafayate, also a very good wine district. A good Torrontes
(white) gives a whiff of bliss on the tongue, and
tasting a Reserva Malbec (red) of good houses like Etchart or Torino can be
a great experience.
And, to join a recent OT subject: the wines are not expensive.

The website has been deliberately kept simple. The pictures are what I would
like people to look
at, not the technology. I uses EZWebshow of Jgo Software.

Comments are appreciated as always!
