There's nothing "esoteric" about a web browser supporting frames which are a
part of the standard.

Recent versions of Netscape support frames and have for years.

Internet Explorer (even for the Mac) has supported frames for years.

Although web design purists contest the need for frames they are, in fact, very
useful.
